By the time most people call me, they are six months into building or renovation. They are over budget. They have been managing a team of contractors who don't really talk to each other. The excitement of the design stage is long gone and everyone just wants to move in.

It does not have to be that way. Most of what goes wrong in a project goes wrong early, in decisions made without the right information. They are over budget. My job is to be in the room before those decisions are made, and to stay with you until the last handle is fitted.
I work with homeowners, architects and designers across the Western Cape who want their cabinetry handled properly by one person who is responsible for it.
Three ways to work together
New Kitchens
A kitchen designed around how your family actually uses the space, not a showroom layout. We start with your plans and habits, work through the options together, and agree on something you fully understand before anything is ordered. Concept drawings through to installation and handover.
Custom Doors
Non-standard doors for your home, the kind you cannot buy off the shelf. We make flush, veneer, MDF and solid timber doors, inside and out, to the design from your architect or from you. You bring the design. We make it to your exact size.
Design Only
For clients with their own contractor or joiner already appointed. You get the full design, technical drawings and material schedule, plus my guidance on the decisions that matter. Your team builds it. Drawings are released once the design fee has been paid in full.

Buying a kitchen is a personal decision, and often an emotional one. It sets the tone of the room your family spends the most time in. It should feel like an extension of who you are and how you live, not like a product you picked off a shelf.
People will spend a million rand on a car and think carefully about every detail of it. They will spend less time and money thinking about the room where they will cook, eat, talk, do homework and gather at every celebration for the next twenty years.
That is the part I care about, and it is the part that takes time to get right.

I am Lauren Behm. I have spent more than twenty years in cabinetry, and for most of that time I ran a full operation: staff, factory, fitment, quality control, accounts, the lot.
A few years ago I made a decision. I stepped away from managing site work and staff so I could focus on the two things I am genuinely best at, which are design and knowledge. It means I have time to think. It means my clients get my full attention rather than my leftover hours. And it means the advice you get from me is the advice I would give a friend, because I have made most of these mistakes myself and I would rather you not repeat them.
